Brașov, City in the Middle of NaturePerioada: 1st May 2017- 30th September 2017
The "Braşov, City in the Middle of Nature"project, financed by the Environmental Partnership Foundation and MOL Romania, has as purpose the promotion of protected natural areas from Brașov county by organising events and designing communication tools, intended for the general public.
Through this project, we want to supplement the activities initiated by the “Discover the Nature of Brașov County” project, implemented in 2015, because the obtained results had a significant impact and the demand for this type of activities increased exponentially. To this end, in 2017, we want to focus mainly on the means of promotion of the protected areas in the county, raising public awareness on the significance and protection of nature, recommendations for visiting and educating children through Junior Ranger camp activities.
During the entire duration of the project, a video material will be made regarding the most representative protected areas in Brașov. The movie will be posted on youtube and on social media channels and it will be projected before the motion pictures at Cinematica Patria in Brașov during the Protected Areas Week. The movie will be available for any organisation/institution/school unit that will want to project it within the carried out activities.
In order for the information on protected areas from the county to reach as many as possible persons, and for the protected area administrators to be able to send visiting recommendations to tourists, a postcard package will be performed comprising the most representative images and information used in the “Nature of Brașov” album. These will be distributed to administrators and tourists entering the information point of the protected areas.
Protected Areas Week will take place in September, and the activities proposed for this event that has reached the third edition are: public conferences on themes related to nature protection, movie projections, green education workshops for children.
By means of this project, we propose to bring the communities closer to protected areas by getting involved in the education of children and through practical explanation of the information related to the significance of protected areas, geology, flora, fauna notions and familiarisation with the activity of a ranger. To this end, we will organise 4 Junior Ranger green education workshops for schools from the following communes: Racoș, Homorod, Hoghiz and Rupea together with the partners of Carpaterra Association.
The project is based on a strong partnership between organisations that have in custody protected areas, NGOs encouraging nature activities and the Environmental Protection Agency which has institutional functions holding at the same time the custody of certain protected areas from Brașov county. Our partners are: Metropolitan Agency for Sustainable Development of Brașov, Environmental Protection Agency of Brașov, Carpaterra Association, Association for Social Integration and Environmental Protection “Feed-Back” of Brașov (ApIS PM "Feed-Back"), Piatra Craiului National Park, Fanzin Cultural Association.
