Restoring longitudinal connectivity of Romanian rivers and streams
Restoring the longitudinal connectivity of Romanian rivers and streams
The quality of rivers and their water, which is a vital resource to us, depends on the integrity of water bodies and quality of river life. Interventions diminishing the longitudinal connectivity of rivers and streams, investments which have increased throughout the country, are significantly affecting river biodiversity and implicitly water quality. In this context, projects towards restoring lengthwise connectivity are needed, projects that need to go through a lengthy and difficult notice and approval process.
This guide is useful to those who are developing these restoration projects since it presents steps to be followed and recommendations to reduce the necessary time to obtain notices/ approval before implementation.
