Ecological Education, Play, and Discovery: 4 Days Dedicated to Schools in the Olt River Communities
Between September 15–18, 2025, we continue the Clean Waters Week with a series of activities dedicated to schools from communities in the Olt River area. These are partner schools within the project Clean Olt – Roots for the Future, in which environmental education specialists from the Romanian Wilderness Society and Carpaterra Association have already conducted workshops and working sessions with students and teachers.
The activities will take place daily between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, in the courtyard of the Fortified Church in Hărman, Brașov County, and are designed as complete educational experiences — where learning happens through play, experimentation, and real connection with nature.
Participating schools:
- “Mihai Eminescu” Secondary School Hărman, Brașov
- “Țara Bârsei” College of Agriculture and Food Industry, Prejmer, Brașov
- “László Lukács” Secondary School, Ilieni, Covasna
- Lunca Câlnicului Secondary School, Brașov
- other educational institutions, depending on available spots

This educational section is an essential component of the Clean Olt – Roots for the Future project, through which we aim to shape future nature ambassadors — students who understand the river's role in community life and become messengers for environmental protection.
The Clean Olt – Roots for the Future project is part of the Cu Apele Curate (With Clean Waters) program, implemented with the support of Lidl Romania, in partnership with MaiMultVerde Association and the Association for Community Relations.
The program is a call to action for combating and preventing plastic pollution in the Danube and its tributaries, addressing members of local communities and public authorities in the targeted areas.
The grant program is part of the "Cu Apele Curate" initiative, supported by Lidl Romania, contributing to the goals of the REset Plastic strategy of the Schwarz Group, of which the retailer is a member. This strategy aims to eliminate plastic use wherever possible and sustainable, create recyclable products, close the loop through collection, sorting, and recycling, and increase awareness of the impact of plastic waste in nature. By thinking globally and acting locally, Lidl Romania consistently responds to the challenges posed by the plastic problem. All environmental protection and plastic pollution measures implemented by Lidl Romania are available in the company’s sustainability reports at www.corporate.lidl.ro.
