At Propark, we believe that protected areas should serve as models of sustainable development, promoting innovative solutions that support both biodiversity conservation and community well-being. Nature-based solutions (NbS) – defined as actions that leverage ecosystem processes and services to address societal challenges – are a key tool in achieving this vision.

Through the Nature-Demo project, we provide protected area specialists with a catalogue of NbS tailored for the planning and management of critical infrastructure. A significant added value of the project is the testing and validation of these solutions in 10 urban green spaces, offering practical examples for integrating NbS into green infrastructure management.

Implementing nature-based solutions is essential, as they enhance climate resilience, protect biodiversity, and offer sustainable, cost-effective alternatives to traditional infrastructure – delivering benefits for both the environment and local communities.

Together with 23 partners from 14 countries, we are applying, monitoring, and demonstrating the benefits of nature-based solutions within the Nature-Demo consortium.
