As part of the “Green for the Future 2.0” program, Propark – Foundation for Protected Areas serves as an organizational development consultant for several protected area administrations in Romania.

One such collaboration is currently underway with the team of Vânători-Neamț Nature Park—a nationally significant protected area, known for its pioneering efforts in reintroducing European bison into the wild and for the diversity of its ecosystems.

Evaluation Process Stages

The support process follows a structured, two-phase approach:

1.     Organizational self-assessment conducted in 2024 using a tool developed by the Foundation for the Development of Civil Society (FDSC);

2.     In-depth evaluation, carried out by the Propark team, using a customized tool adapted for protected area administrations, inspired by the internationally recognized "Capacity for Conservation" methodology.

For the second phase, detailed interviews were conducted with park staff, including management, administrative personnel, and rangers. These discussions aimed to identify organizational strengths, current challenges, and genuine capacity needs.

The tool used was specifically tailored to the realities of protected area administrations in Romania, enabling real-time data collection on key indicators during the interviews. The final result will be an organizational profile that includes:

·       Clear directions for improvement;

·       Practical tools and tailored recommendations.
