The brochure provides information regarding the current situation of protected area governance in Eastern Europe, respectively the governance types identified within the region, the trends for their diversification and their quality improvement, as well as a series of overall recommendations on how to achieve the CBD Program of Work on Protected Areas’ goals on governance. One of its sections is dedicated to the key concepts related to protected area governance, which are presented in an accessible manner.
The brochure summarizes the key findings of the study Governance of protected areas in Eastern Europe. Overview of different governance types, case studies and lessons learned, conducted by ProPark Foundation for Protected Areas in Romania in 2011-2012, and was edited with the financial support of The German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN).
