2013 Alfred Toepfer Natural Heritage Scholarship
International exchange in the field of natural science is of utmost importance. EUROPARC Federation, the umbrella organization of protected areas in Europe, is proud to announce the opening of the 2013 Alfred Toepfer Natural Heritage Scholarship.
The scholarship is funded by the Alfred Toepfer Stiftung F.V.S.. It aims to enable young professional researchers from European countries to travel to another country than their home country and visit protected areas for their research on one of the themes identified for 2013:
a. Management of Natural Resources in particular positive examples of agriculture and biodiversity management in protected areas
b. Sustainable Tourism in protected areas (We would welcome study tours that include Eastern Europe)
c. Environmental Education and Communication: What innovative techniques are protected areas using to deliver important conservation messages?
d. International / Transboundary Cooperation, especially how climate change mitigation and species management adaptation is being managed across an international border
e. Protected areas management effectiveness: How do protected areas measure their success?
Results of the research in these fields are of great interest for the EUROPARC Federation and network across Europe. Scholarhsips are awarded at the annual conference of the EUROPARC Federation, this year hosted by Hortobágy National Park in Hungary: http://europarc.org/conference-2013/
