Propark Continues Training Professionals Who Care for Protected Areas in the Republic of Moldova
Propark’s experience in protected area management and in training the people who care for nature continues to be shared further, in regional contexts where professionalisation is essential for conservation.
In the Republic of Moldova, our colleague Tiberiu Chiricheș contributes to the training of professionals working in the management of protected areas, through a series of intensive courses dedicated to the staff of the “Pădurea Domnească” Nature Reserve and the “Prutul de Jos” Biosphere Reserve.
The courses took place at the “Pădurea Domnească” Nature Reserve and brought together people who work directly with nature, with local communities, and with the day-to-day decisions that influence the future of these valuable areas.
Together with representatives of Moldsilva, the Environmental Inspectorate, and the Environmental Agency, participants worked on essential topics for the effective management of protected areas: basic elements regarding protected areas, the management plan, protected area management, landscape management, and sustainable development.
These topics are fundamental for any team responsible for managing a territory of high natural value. A well-designed management plan provides direction, but it only becomes meaningful when there are people prepared to understand it, apply it, and adapt it to the realities in the field.
For Propark, the professionalisation of those who manage nature is not a technical detail. It is one of the most important investments in conservation.
Protected areas need good plans, functional institutions, and collaboration between organisations, but above all, they need people who can make informed, responsible decisions connected to the needs of the place. This need is just as important regardless of which side of the Prut River a protected area is located on.
Through such training programmes, Propark contributes to strengthening a regional professional community dedicated to nature, where experience, practical knowledge, and collaboration become resources for better protected area management.
Because nature is not protected only through documents and regulations, but through people prepared to turn them into concrete actions, day by day.
