Protected areas concept for kids
ProPark Foundation for Protected Areas is working on an ecological education manual for pupils on 3rd and 4th grade. As part of the project “Nature in schools and schools in Protected Areas”(NinS), a team of educational and animation for nature experts, elaborates the first manual focused on transmitting the concept on protected area to small kids.
The material will be written for teachers, to be used in class, during school. It will have an introduction chapter that will explain how a class should be conducted and how it’s suitable to speak about nature and protected areas. Also, it will contain a series of interactive games appropriate either for inside or outside. Each game has a conclusion to be explained by the teacher.
„We choose to work with small kids, because we also want to lobby for including this manual in the official curricula”, said Andra Croitoru, Project Manager. „We wish to encourage fascination and curiosity for nature, protected areas, their importance and role, to make the kids aware of the impact of our action on the environment, and to build a positive behavior regarding nature.”, added Andra Croitoru.
The team met in Brasov, on 31st of October, and the manual will be ready at the beginning of February 2015. More details about project here: http://propark.ro/en/proiecte/nature-in-schools-and-schools-in-protected-areas-195.html
