Protected Areas Week 2018
Protected Areas Week 2018
Press Release
Between October 8-14, 2018, the Propark Foundation for Protected Areas invites you to Protected Areas Week, an event that will take place in 2018 at a national level.
Protected Areas Week is a concept through which protected areas are promoted to the general public by organizing various activities (photo exhibitions, debates, seminars, film screenings, guided tours, environmental education, competitions, etc.). The success of this program, initiated in Brasov County in 2015, has prompted the ProPark team to propose replication of the initiative at the national level. Thus, the experience gained is a model that inspired and motivated the teams of administrators to enroll in activities that promote the protected areas in several counties in the country. The event is part of the "People for Nature" project, funded by the Partnership Foundation and MOL Romania, which aims to promote protected natural areas in Romania and people working in this field by organizing events for the general public.
"We are very honored that a large number of protected area administrators and not only have chosen to join the initiative. We wanted to convey our experience in Brasov, accumulated in 3 years of the organization because it is extremely important to be closer to the general public who can support us in nature protection activities. In 2018 we have 27 partner organizations to organize exciting activities: 14 guided tours in protected areas, 15 environmental education workshops, 2 bicycle competitions, 2 tracking activities in protected areas, 2 contests for pupils, 2 debates, 1 Pub-Quiz with questions about protected areas, 3 movie projections, etc. We invite the public to participate in these activities and consult weekly world.ro to know the timing of the event, "said Roxana Iordăchescu, project manager.
"This year we will bring to the audience people who perform and act with conviction and professionalism in the field of nature protection in Romania. The pilot film series "People for Nature" brings to the forefront 5 experts from different sub-domains and represents a first step in the promotion of activities in the field of nature protection in Romania. The initiative aims to contribute to the stimulation of professionalism and leadership in this field. This video is made by the team at NTD Film, composed of Dan Dinu and Cosmin Dumitrache, the filmmakers of "Wild Romania", said Alina Ionita, a nature conservation expert.
The event takes place in 18 counties (Mehedinti, Ilfov, Satu Mare, Cluj, Covasna, Suceava, Brasov, Alba, Vrancea, Arad, Dambovita, Vrancea, Neamt, Gorj, Bihor, Hunedoara, Caras-Severin). national parks, natural sites, Natura 2000 sites, parks and nature reserves.
The project budget is 22,240 RON, out of which 19,950 represents the financial contribution from the Partnership Foundation and MOL Romania.
Project partners: Geopar of Dinosaurs Administration Haţeg Country, Association for the Conservation of Biological Diversity (ACDB) and Călimani National Park.
Propark-Protected Areas Foundation wishes to improve the management capacity of protected areas through training and training programs and projects that complement existing resources to maintain natural and cultural values and develop functional models for sustainable development in Romania.
